Kimberly launches Well-Fit campaign with Youth Sport Trust

Youth Sport Trust ambassador Kimberly Wyatt has unveiled plans of Well-Fit a unique initiative to use PE and school sport to enhance wellbeing and self-confidence in primary schools.

Last night (WED) Kimberly addressed delegates at the Youth Sport Trust 2016 National Conference explaining the essence of Well-Fit which is aimed at primary school aged girls and boys, and uses dance to increase activity levels and boost confidence among young people.

Dancer and wellness expert, Kimberly is passionate about Well-Fit and how vital empowering the younger generation is, allowing them to establish strong foundations in body confidence as well as self-confidence.

She said: “Giving children a helping hand in finding passion is really important.

When you dive into physical education and you dive into sport what this does is bring communities together, it teaches you about working with others, working as a team, finding confidence to go for your goals, be ambitious and passionate.

“My message for young people is to find something that you are passionate about, you’ve got to try new things, you got to believe in yourself enough to have confidence to try those new things, and just keep diving into new experiences.

“I’ve been dancing for about 25 years and dance is where I find my way of being able to express myself and putting all that shyness aside and being confident. If I can work with schools to communicate this to primary school aged children then they will have the foundations and building blocks to empower them throughout their educational and physical development.

“I believe this feeling of wellbeing and fitness is crucial to our next generation.”

As part of the launch of Well-Fit, five schools were selected at the conference to take part in a dance masterclass with Kimberly to demonstrate the benefits of the programme and help shape the concept.

Ali Oliver, Chief Executive of Youth Sport Trust said: “We are thrilled to have Kimberly as an Ambassador for the Youth Sport Trust. Kimberly is a fantastic role model with a passion for sport and physical activity and knows the huge impact it can have on helping young people to increase their confidence, to go for opportunities and strive for greatness.”
